This issue, you may have noticed the stunning beauty gracing our cover. Kerri Taylor first caught our attention in 2004 when we were looking for a model to feature here on RetroKitten. It didn't take us long to notice that many of her stunning photos were taken by the woman we had chosen to be our Featured Photographer, Viva Van Story. It really seemed like a match made in Heaven (or at least near enough that the ZIP code was close).
Viva Van Story has been cultivating a vintage style that is truly captivating with its vivid imagery and glossy look. The women that she captures on film have that 1950's starlet appeal, exuding sex kitten good looks and generally reminding us of a naughty innocence that sometimes seems like only a memory. It's no wonder that she's a photographer for Varla Magazine!
Viva Van Story has a well rounded portfolio and has really made quite a name for herself on the scene and there really is no reason to wonder why. Her photos capture a time that very few of us remember, but all of us miss.
When you combine her talent with a gorgeous girl like Kerri Taylor, you can't go wrong. Kerri is a multi-talented model and actress from New Jersey and honestly, we think that the sky is the limit for this newcomer. After all, she has worked with Viva Van Story!
These two women embody the concept behind RetroKitten. Networking. Even though they didn't meet here, their collaboration with each other brought them both to our attention, and hence, yours. So many people think that a career in the alternative art industry is like a Lana Turner soda shop fairy tail. One day, a bolt from the blue catapults you into super stardom and the rest is history.
Sadly, this is rarely the case. As you look through the profiles on RetroKitten, remember that each photo, each face, every portrait and every name represents countless hours of hard work. For every success story, there are ten struggling artists who will fade into obscurity. There is no magic bullet, and no guarantee.
Every once in a while, you see that hard work pay off, and sometimes, it sticks in your mind and won't let go. Viva Van Story and Kerri Taylor both have that appeal.
Watch them, we expect them both to go far.
