This month, we have a truly special treat. We've been fans of Angela's since she burst onto the scene, and she's been with us for a long time to. Imagine the honor of featuring such a versatile and stunning woman! As usual, buckle yourself in as we take a cruise in the mind of Angela Ryan!
Q: Our standard first question: How on earth did you get started in this industry?
Angela Ryan: I guess you could say that I officially started my modeling career four years ago, but I can't remember a time growing up when my mom didn't have a camera in my face. I guess I shouldn't be suprised that I am modeling for others now. It just seems like something I have always been doing. I love glamour and getting all dolled up. I have branched out now and started performing burlesque, fetish skits, and singing.
Q: How would you categorize yourself? You do a lot of retro work, but additionally, there is an edgy modern feel to a lot of your work. I know that people hate pigeonholing themselves, but if you had to...
Angela Ryan: I do hate to put myself into just one category, but the over all feel I try to achieve in all of my shoots is an air of glamour no matter what the look is. I love doing a variety of work and challenging myself to new ideas. I like to mix genre's as well. There are so many different facets of my personality, so I never like to look just one way all the time.
Q: Obviously, we are quite fond of you, or you wouldn't be on the cover. Would you consider yourself successful?
Angela Ryan: Thank you very much! I love what I do. I think that makes anyone successful. I am reaching the goals I am setting for myself, and I feel like I have accomplished a lot of what I want.
Q: It seems like every few years, you reinvent yourself. Only a few people have truly been successful at this but you seem to be one of them. Isn't there a danger in deviating too much?
Angela Ryan: People constantly evolve and change. I would hope they wouldn't expect me not to. I love seeing that I can become something I never thought I could or would be. I always want to broaden my horizons, and I believe everyone else should too.
Q: What advice to you have for other models that want to get into this industry?
Angela Ryan: Modeling can be a tough business. You have to be very dedicated to it to make it work. You can't sit back and wait for something to happen. It won't. You also need to be confident enough to withstand critisism, because you are always going to get some. Everyone is different, and everyone likes something different. It does no good to compare yourself to other models. There is a market for everyone. You just need to find your niche.
Q: OK, pet peeves about the industry. What do you really really REALLY hate?
Angela Ryan: Gossip, drama, catty/insecure girls, people who treat you disrespectfully, and photographers that don't get your photos to you. BUT, you have to take the good with the bad. Those things happen in everyday life as well. You just have to learn to deal with them. It's worth it to me. If it wasn't, I wouldn't still be here.
Q: Bagels or Doughnuts?
Angela Ryan: I'm so glad you asked! To be totally honest with you, I like both. I like plain bagels with butter on them, and chocolate covered doughnuts with sprinkles on them.
Q: Describe a great experience you've had working in this industry. Who was it with, what made it great?
Angela Ryan: There are so many great experiences, but the best I've had so far is with my troupe. Jami Deadly, Athena Fatale, Lady Malice, and Mimi Turpentine have helped me to enhance my performance style, and some of the shows we've done together have really helped me grow as a performer. Solo performances are one thing, but working with a talented group of people really helps take things to the next level!
Q: What current projects are you working on? (i.e. what can we all be looking forward to?)
Angela Ryan: Well, I am constantly traveling, and I will be performing and modeling across the country and abroad. I have a calendar on my site with all of the places I will be visiting, my photo shoots, and my shows listed for you to keep track of my whereabouts. I am constantly working on creating my stage shows, and I have started singing. My performances are becoming a big part of my creative outlet. As far as AngelaRyan.com goes, I shoot regularly with some amazing photographers and update my site 2-3 times a week. So, you can always look forward to new photos from me!
Q: Do you have a parting shot for us? Any last words or thoughts?
Angela Ryan:Don't take candy from strangers, or run with scissors, and always look both ways before you cross the street! Hehe. Oh, and go check out AngelaRyan.com!
We would like to thank Angela for taking the time to chat with us, and even more, we would like to personally thank each and every one of her photographers for managing to capture such incredible beauty. Personality and looks are a combination that have already taken Angela far, and we look forward to seeing where she goes from here!
